    Default Books!

In STO tonight some of you were mentioning some interesting sounding books that I'd like to give a read some time.
Could I ask you to put the names here, author and title, so we can check them out. I'll put some here too, althought I expect you've read them.

Frank Herbert : Dune (and the rest of the series too if you like, but I found them quite heavy)
William Gibson : Neuromancer, Idoru & All Tomorrows Parties.

There are people in that thread that aren't here

As for books, well I don't read a hell of a lot but some I like would be:

    The Time Machine - H. G. Wells
The Emperor's New Mind - Roger Penrose
A Brief History of Time - Stephen Hawking
The God Delusion - Richard Dawkins
The Island of Dr. Moreau - H. G. Wells
The End Of Faith - Sam Harris
Breaking The Spell - Daniel Dennett
My Family and Other Animals - Gerald Durrell

Simon R Green: The Deathstalker series, the Nightside Series, and the Secret History series. all v.fast paced, fun.
Maria Snyder: The 'Study' series, 3 books, and the Glass series, 2 books so far. kinda like trudi canavan's stuff if you've ever read that. fantasy, magic etc. easy to read & well written imo
Peter F Hamilton: The Night's Dawn trilogy (biiiig sci-fi epic monsters of awesomeness books, get them!). Theres also the Commonwealth series followed by the Void series - read these 2 series in order though!

I'd echo Wharry's recommendations for the Otherland series by Tad Williams & the Malazan books of the Fallen by Stephen Erikson. they're all BIG books, but awesome.

There're tons more i'd say too, but those'll take you a good while to get through
